The Care Bears Trust at Greenwood Primary was established to ensure that no child goes hungry during the school day, providing needy learners with wholesome meals through a structured support system.
When teachers identify a child without food, they can obtain a blue slip from Ms Barnardo, which allows the child to receive a sandwich from the tuck shop.
The Trust’s impact is substantial – in 2017 alone, over 9,000 sandwiches and numerous bowls of porridge were provided to children in need.
Beyond nutrition, the Care Bears Trust also funds transport to and from school for learners who might otherwise miss classes due to lack of transport money, demonstrating a holistic approach to student welfare.
The Trust maintains transparency and accountability through annual audits conducted by Mazaars, ensuring that donations and resources are used effectively to support our most vulnerable students.
