Facilities Overview

Greenwood Primary School’s sports facilities include two tennis courts, one netball court, and a swimming pool. Cricket and soccer are played on the sports field.

In addition to its on-site facilities, Greenwood Primary School has access to the Union Cricket Club’s sports fields as well as the club’s two squash courts.

The school also shares the E.P. Cricket B Field which is situated directly across the road from the school building. This is where hockey is played.

The grade 6 and 7 learners are taught computer skills and different approaches to research on the modern equipment in the computer lab.

Greenwood Primary School places great emphasis on pupils’ reading skills. Every learner in the school has access to the library which features a wide selection of books from fiction to non-fiction.

Each class is allocated a half-hour slot every second week where learners are able check out their books. The library is also open after school for book exchanges. The school believes that allowing learners to take books home with them teaches them responsibility, and instils a great love and appreciation for books.

The school invests in new books annually to keep up with popular trends.

As Dr Seuss says: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Netball includes the following age groups: u9, u10, u11, u12, 13. A very busy 6 months of matches (including many Saturday tournaments) takes place every year.

The current limited facility of one court shared between a large number of players does not deter the enthusiasm of the girls.

From the fourth term, grade 1 learners are given the opportunity to participate in group swimming lessons.

The triangular gala takes place in the first term, and those who are able to swim 50 metres have the opportunity to take part.
